Luckenbach Texas: Waylon Jennings, Willie Nelson and the boys

I have always liked country music. As a kid I would get to listen Waylon Jennings and Willie Nelson, Hank Williams, Dolly Parton, Johnny Cash, Kris Kristofferson, Don Williams and many more. All wonderful musicians and an absolute pleasure to listen to.
Here in Australia we do have a good country music following, however there has always been a percentage of the population who seem to think it’s not cool to listen to country. So if you are one of those I make no apologies. Maybe you could tune in and see if you do like country music after all.

It’s totally freezing with almost no air, being just a couple of thousand feet below the hight that international jets fly at. As for the danger aspect, it’s relatively overrated, since only 150 people have been killed climbing Everest… whilst countless millions die every year from tobacco. Needless to say the vast majority wont see this view first hand, but the view is worth the look.

Well I guess India’s colorful cotton, particularly with the Paisley design, made a lot of hippies happy… yes I admit it, I had Paisley shirts, and as much as it embarrasses me… I wore flared pants too, but it gets much worse still, I had flared cords. My only relief comes from the fact that Flares are making a come back… and just to get back a little more esteem, I’ll tell Gen Y don’t do it! Knowing they’ll take no notice of me.
Gandhi supported the Indian cotton industry, in fact from memory such as it is (injury related), I believe he used that support to start his peaceful revolution against the British Empire, or to be more correct, the British Royal families East India Company business interests, which included Opium.
As far as the cotton industry is concerned, personally I find it offensive that foreign (American I believe) owned companies are growing cotton and Rice in Australia, and are I believe largely responsible for polluting what is arguably Australia’s most important river… the upside I guess is that their water uses is sooo excessive, that luckily the once Mighty Murry has almost run dry, saving us from being poisoned by the chemicals and pesticides used in the production of the cotton and rice crops. For those amongst you that don’t get Irony (most Americans) that was not just sarcasm but ironic sarcasm.
The cure of course is that we should swap Cotton for Hemp, which is a stronger and I believe better cloth, can be used to make high quality paper (no more cutting down trees for paper), insulation and building materials etc. and it will grow almost anywhere, requires less water, no chemicals, it actually improves the soil, and the seeds are a far better food source than Rice.
But they (the Americans) wont like that, it’s apparently OK to sell cigarettes which kill millions, but not Hemp (Pot) that has never in recorded history killed a single person… again for those that don’t get Irony, that’s yet another example. And what has all that to do with India… bugger all, I just thought I’d get it off my chest.

Yet another important thing to come out of early India, and contra to accepted thoughts… it was India not the Arab world that came up with our current numbering system, but more importantly, the Indians it seems were the first to also come up with the number ‘0′.

Archeology has always intrigued me. About 4,500 years ago in present day Pakistan, the Harappan civilization (3,000–1,500 BCE) built what’s thought to be a remarkably advanced, extensive city built on a grid system, of some 30,000 people, totally unheard of before the Roman Empire 2,500 years later.
In this ancient planned city, homes had their own wells, drains and toilets, complete with an underground sewer system comprising of earthenware pipes, a first it seems on our planet. They also had developed an advanced method of casting intricate Bronze statues.

It’s not “What have the Romans done for us”, but the Indians, you know the Curry, Bollywood Indians, as apposed to the Tipis, Sitting Bull Indians. Anyway it was a long time ago, speaking of which… time we had a look (little in joke).

HaHaHaHaHa… Good to see, I’ve never considered hunting a sport, think about it, you use a high powered rifle with a scope to kill some poor creature and call it ’sport’?… if you did the same thing to another human, it would be murder.
OK, I know that there are circumstances where you have to cull certain animals for various reasons. In Australia for instance, feral pigs, cats, dogs, dear, buffalo, goats and camels can cause enormous damage to our delicate Aussie bush and our farms, and I’m all for shooting programs, either to bring down their numbers or even to wipe them out, to protect that delicate bush.
We also have situations where the Kangaroos end up in plague proportions; largely because we have changed the balance, and we have to kull them. Now don’t get me wrong here, I have no problem with this culling, in fact I’m some what pissed off when a bunch of bleeding harts try to stop these culls… sort of a save Skippy thing.
I’m also pissed off when these same people, protest at Kangaroos being ‘farmed’… because “You can’t eat our national symbol.” Well yes you can, the Aboriginals have for some 60,000 years or more. It’s also one of the healthiest meats having very low cholesterol and having the advantage that they do less harm to the bush than Beef… we should be farming them.
But killing for pleasure, no I’m sorry but I’m not happy with that. By the way, did you know that another reason given for the Kangaroo and the Emu being on our crest is because they can’t take a step backwards… an Australian trait all but gone in the last 30 years. Hears another fact. In every conflict that Aussie military personnel were involved in, it was our boys who were the first to win battles amongst the allies.

Well in the realm of taking things literally… I’m going to have to revisit terms such as ‘impossible’, ‘beyond any possible doubt, all pyramids were designed to project a powerful beam of energy’…, ‘no longer speculation’, ‘it can now be proven beyond all reasonable doubt’.
No doubt the pyramids are magnificent structures, as to whether or not they were constructed with the help of aliens, I’d say… probably not. Perhaps it’s more likely that we underestimate the capabilities of our ancestors.
